Larkspur Ferry Terminal

San Francisco is by the bay and so water ways is also a means of transport. The ferry that you see in the picture takes people from a place called Larkspur (sounds Indian with a pur at the end, but people here pronounce it as laksper) to San Francisco city in about 50 minutes. People drive their car to this ferry terminal, park and catch the ferry to the city. This terminal was just opposite to my apartment.

Emerald Bay

This picture was shot from the cruise which takes you to this beautiful location. We in India do have locations like these or even more beautiful but unfortunately not as well maintained or some places are terrorist infected. Frankly speaking, the cleanliness of the bay was the main attraction for me!

Kashmir?

Nope! This place looks like Kashmir, but is on the mountains near Lake Tahoe. You can treck up the mountain, but the hevenly gondolas bring you here!

The Hevenly Gondola

Ah!!! What a technical marvel!!! The gondola at Lake Tahoe takes you all the way up the mountain which is 2875 feet high. The 12 minute ride to the top of the mountain is simply breath taking. It is more than worth the $22 that you need to shell out. The gondola cars are in plenty (138 cars keep goig up/down) and so there is no rush.

Lake Berryessa

When you have finished seeing all the attractions in California and want to just kill time, probably this place is an ideal location. A man made lake, drive to this lake through thick woods is more scenic than the place itself. Any way, I had a very nice time there with my friend Prakash and his relatives.

My photo of the Golden Gate bridge

Millions of shutters pay their obeisance daily to this amazing structure at various vantage positions to capture this bridge built way back in 1937.

Mahatma Gandhi at San Francisco!

Some people feel that our Gandhiji should be moved out of the parking lot to a more "prominent" location. However I feel that this parking lot is the best place because only when people walk around do they stop by and find out who this great man is. After all his greatness lay in his simplicity and so even gandhiji himself would have preferred the parking lot

Cable Car of San Francisco

These cars have been serving the city of San Francisco since 1873!!! While the cable cars have been pushed to oblivion in other cities in the world, San Francisco opted to retain them

An aerial view of Stinsen beach

Trust me, the beach is not photogenic!

A view of the Monterey bay

The Point Reyes lighthouse

This lighthouse protected mariners for almost 100 years from 1870. If you are anywhere in the north of California, then this place is a must visit. On a non foggy day the view of the lighthouse from the top of the hill is simply amazing! There are plenty of nice beaches nearby on the way to this place, which are almost empty , in case you need some extra privacy -;)
Again, the drive to the lighthouse is very scenic and very less inhabited.
